Delivery/Non Delivery

3rd Dec 2012

When you place an order with us it is usually shipped the same day (if before 3.30pm) or the next day if placed after 3.30pm. So therefore you order will be delivered within 1-3 days depending on your location. This is why our webesite says to allow 3-5 business days for delivery. This allows us time to pick your order and get it out of the warehouse and for the travel time to its destination.

Occasionally we do have problems with couriers/deliveries. Sometimes couriers just simply don't turn up. They just find it all too hard. On occasions (and I have seen this personally) couriers will simply not deliver the parcel as they are either too lazy or too busy so they just put a card in your mail box (if you can be that lucky) and drive off. I have been standing in my driveway and a courier pulled up, got out of his van and put a card in my mail box and drove off. I was standing 5 feet away from him. Why did he not just hand me my parcel? Who knows? I have even heard of times when a driver has not even left a card and simply taken the parcel back to the depot.

This is why I NEVER guarantee a delivery. There are just too many factors involved and too many things that can go wrong, weather conditions, airport problems, traffic condition add lazy/slack or incompetent delivery drivers. Sometimes i just throw my hands in the air and shake my head at some of the stories my customers have told me about their dealings with couriers.

All I can guarantee is what we will or will not do. If you place your order by 3.30pm we will put it on a truck that afternoon. If you place it after 3.30pm we will put it on a truck the following day. If for some reason we can't we will let you know. It is that simple.

I am always happy to accept responsibility for what we do or do NOT do but I will NEVER accept responsibility for couriers. It is simply not possible. I don't employ these drivers and I don't own the courier companies and unfortunately I have no special mind control powers over people so I would be an absolute idiot to try and accept responsibility for a slack or lazy courier. I am sure you can understand this?

Sometimes I have customers call me and abuse me for the inactions of a courier. I get really annoyed with these sorts of calls as I am totally helpless and can't do anything about it. I can only re-send another parcel. That's about all. Am I really expected to take responsibility for another person who works for another company? Seriously?

If you ask us to leave the parcel at the door we will put this on the parcel. If the courier actually reads this instruction and is feeling in a good mood, and they feel it is safe to do so they wili leave your parcel at the door. They are under no obligation whatsoever to leave your parcel EVER. So be grateful if they actually do.

I have had customers tell me that they will take their business elsewhere because a courier let them down. My reply is simple, go for it! If you are not happy then that is your right. But keep in mind that this was not a deliberate attempt on me or my company to mess up your day and to inconvenience you. It was another person working for another company that we have no control over. If you do decide to take your business elsewhere then remember that there are only so many courier companies in the country and all of our opposition use the same companies so this can and most likely will happen to you again. It is a fact!

If everyone ordered a new cartridge as soon as they replaced their last one I don't think we would have these problems. It is pretty easy really. When you replace your last cartridge, jump on line or pick up the phone and order another one immediately. That way you won't be left hanging out for another cartridge at the most inconvenient time and if the couriers don't do their job properly then we have a few days up our sleeve to sort it out.

When I get aggressive or abusive customers on the phone complaining about their order not being delivered it is usually caused by the fact that they ordered their cartridge at the last minute when the printer stopped working and need it desperately or had it delivered to an address where no one was home or they knew that they would not be home and asked for the parcel to be left and the courier did not want to leave it. Do you see a pattern here?

Don't leave it to the last minute to order your cartridge. Order as soon as you insert your last cartridge. Make sure you have it delivered to an address where someone can receive it, don't just take pot luck and hope the driver will leave it.

By thinking ahead you can save a lot of heartache and stress for both of us. On the odd occassion that things just go wrong and your order goes missing then we still have time to send you another one.

The most common question I get asked when things go wrong is "Why don't you just change Couriers?". If I changed couriers everytime I had a problem I would be delivering parcels myself. Eventually we would run out of couriers to change to. We can complain to them but it still does not change the fact that a parcel did not get delivered or go missing. It is a really hard situaition and couriers at times can make us look bad. We try our best and I know that they do too - sometimes.

We are aware of these problems and will always work with you to fix them. That is why we are here. I beleive the customer is always right but there is one exception. When a customer is being rude, abusive, aggressive or straight out unreasonalbe they are WRONG. Pure and simple. If you ever have a problem with coureirs and are frustrated, simply take a deep breath and pick up the phone so we can help you. The less stress/grief you put us under the better we can help you. But you have to understand that we can only control certain variables in this sort of transaction.

Thanks for reading. Have a great day.

Kind Regards, Jon.
